Room 148

[shufti]

From inside room 148 there is the faint sound of a baby crying. Otherwise, it is a very nondescript looking door, no name of its occupant on the outside.

He had received a note and come immediately.

He knocks.

"Shufti?"

[shufti]

There is a hesitation whilst she peeps through the little hole in the door, then the door inches open a little and a little blue eye looks through. When she sees it's Faramir she lets the chain off and opens the door.

"Hello."

Jack is still whimpering behind her, but he's nearly settled off to sleep.

"Hello, my dear girl. I got your note. Are you all right?"

She shakes her head, letting him in.

"I... I did something bad."

She's clearly very worried about this, and by the looks of things, hasn't slept properly in weeks.

The room is fairly plain, and apart from the baby stuff, there isn't any furniture that it didn't come with.

"May I come in?" he asks. "Tell me about it. I'll see what I can do."

[shufti]

She nods, closing the door carefully and sitting down on the bed, offering the chair to him.

She fidgets.

"I hit someone... slapped them. It was a couple of weeks ago but I needed to wait until it was safe before I could confess."

"Safe?" he asks, sitting nearby. "How do you mean?"

"The person I slapped was temporarily dangerous. I lost my temper with her. I was scared that if I confessed before she got better that you would put me in the cells without Jack and she might get him while I wasn't able to protect him."

"I would not seperate a mother and child," he assures her gently. "Especially not a child that young. If there must be cell time involved, he will be allowed to stay with you. I do not believe you would do anything knowingly malicious, Shufti. Tell me what happened, and why you believe your child to be in danger."

"Thank you."

She fidgets.

"I don't think he is in danger now. But a couple of weeks ago... a friend began to act oddly. She's a vampire and she told a mutual friend that me and Jack were just prey to her. He told me and... and I left Jack with him and went to see her because I was worried.
She was acting really odd. When I challenged her she threatened me that if I said she was threatening me and Jack that she would carry out her threats, and I got very confused and she said that she hadn't threatened me when she'd just done it. So I asked her why she'd said we were prey and she said that it was because that was all we were. And... and I just lost my temper and slapped her. She... she didn't like that."

She rubs just below her collarbone.

"But now she's been made better again and she's really sorry. It wasn't her fault, and she didn't do anything to us in the end."
